General missions
Gender Studies, o.p.s. is a non-profit non-governmental organization founded in 1991. It is an information, education and consulting center on gender equality and the position of women and men in society. Our main focus is on the area of equal opportunities for women and men at the labor market.
Expertise in age management and continued employment of older
Our expertise is, above all, in the area of gender- and age-based/multiple discrimination prevention. We run a free-of-charge legal helpline for people who suspect they have been discriminated against on the basis of their gender and/or age. We have currently been building our know-how in the area of age management thanks to our involvement in the international P.E.O.P.L.E. and All generations in companies projects.
Actions proposed to members
Through concrete and specific projects Gender Studies, o.p.s. actively advocates equal opportunities practices in different areas, including labor market, public administration, family policy, anti-discrimination practices, etc. We hold conferences, lectures and discussions for various target groups (employers, employees, youth and general public), produce publications, run media campaigns and celebrate the Gender Equality Day on June 19. We promote equal opportunities among politicians. In addition to the above, we run a library which is the largest of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe.
Reasons why Gender Studies, o.p.s. is motivated in participating to the UT95 project ‘All generations in companies’
Gender Studies, o.p.s. is particularly interested in the gender dimension of ageing, we devote ourselves to the problematic of gender- and age-based discrimination at the Czech labor market. We hope that, through our participation in this project, we can share our know-how in this area with the partners from other countries and also to ensure gender sensitivity of this project’s products. We are also keen on getting inspired by best practices from the partner countries.
